David and Teresa Disiere earlier this week announced a new fundraising campaign at a press conference held at Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana. The goal of the fundraising campaign is to raise much-needed funds for the development of a playground for the hospital.
The David and Teresa Disiere Foundation kick started the fundraiser with the presentation of a $25,000 check to Shriners Hospital. They also announced a week-long pledge drive that will run across all three local television networks this week, with a second matching donation up to $25,000 for additional funds raised by the public.
At the press conference, David Disiere also presented plans for the proposed playground, which features low-impact play equipment, shade structures, and equipment that can assist with physical therapy. He went on to discuss the importance of the playground for the young patients of Shriners Hospital who are often hospitalized for extended periods while undergoing treatment.
This latest fundraiser follows a similar campaign last year that raised $66,500 for a leading-edge low dose x-ray machine for the hospital. $50,000 of those funds were donated by the foundation. The David & Teresa Disiere Foundation is committed to ongoing support for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport in honor of David’s father, Francis Disiere, who was a longtime member of the El Karubah Shrine in Shreveport.
Shriners Hospitals for Children provides care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs regardless of the patient or family’s ability to pay. As a 501(c)3 organization, Shriners Hospitals for Children relies on donations from Shriners, corporations and the public.
